About the Role

We have a new opportunity for a Deputy Head of Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC)  to join our Radiopharmacy team at our Dinnington site.

his pivotal role involves overseeing pharmaceutical innovation and the supply of both approved and pipeline products. The successful candidate will deputise for the Head of CMC EU & UK within the UK.

Responsibilities of the role

The Deputy Head of CMC will be responsible for leading chemical operations for development and manufacturing in the UK. This includes overseeing pharmaceutical innovation and the supply of all approved and pipeline products. The role involves deputising for the Head of CMC EU & UK within the UK.

The successful candidate will develop and lead strategic partnerships related to the supply of commercial and investigational radiopharmaceuticals. They will supervise the technical monitoring of contract manufacturers and oversee the maintenance and expansion of the supply network. This includes contributing to business development and contract negotiation, regulatory activities, and steering technology transfer and supply site setup.

Lifecycle management and continuous improvement are key aspects of this role, requiring coordination of internal and external activities. The Deputy Head of CMC will progress pipeline assets and support collaboration with external and academic partners. Managing the patent portfolio is also a critical responsibility.

Effective communication and alignment with internal stakeholders, including senior management, commercial, supply chain, regulatory, medical, pre-clinical research, business development, and legal teams, are essential. The role requires timely conduct and documentation of training in Q-Pulse, as well as reporting and correcting deviations from standards in accordance with applicable processes.

The Deputy Head of CMC will support the presentation of quality requirements, including involvement in the preparation of QA documentation. Active participation in discussions on process optimization to efficiently improve quality levels is also expected.

Skills And Experience

The ideal candidate for the Deputy Head of CMC position will possess a university degree in pharmaceutical sciences or chemistry, along with at least 10 years of industry experience in radiopharmaceutical research, development, or manufacturing.

They should have both theoretical and practical expertise in handling radioactive materials, radiosynthesis, analytical method development, and regulatory implementation. Experience in production processes of radiopharmaceuticals is essential.

The candidate should have a proven track record in leading and managing interdisciplinary groups, demonstrating strong leadership and managerial skills with a focus on quality and patient outcomes.

They must be capable of preparing strategies and generating ideas that address changing environments and future challenges.

Excellent data interpretation skills, with an emphasis on data extrapolation to monitor trends, are required. The candidate should have first-class written and verbal communication skills, confident decision-making abilities based on evidence from the wider team, and the courage to make difficult decisions. They should possess excellent influencing skills and the ability to inspire others.

A proactive communicator, the candidate should be able to present complex technical proposals to diverse audiences. They should be commercially aware, results-oriented, and have strong personal skills and seniority in partnering and negotiating with external companies. Strong organizational skills and fluency in English are also essential.
