Laura
Senior Radiographer
(CT Clinical Lead)
It is fair to say Alliance Medical has encouraged and supported me in progressing in my career since the day I started, including granting a career break to go travelling and offering flexibility when I started a young family. I love my job.
I can continue my career progression whilst still enjoying life, Alliance provides a perfect work life balance.
I joined Alliance Medical as a graduate in 2008 as a mobile CT Radiographer and was provided with a full CT training programme. Two years later I cross trained into MRI and Dexa - this added so much variety to my role. A year later I was promoted to Senior Radiographer and completed my post graduate certificate in CT.
The following year I was successful in gaining a Regional Senior position, this involved managing scanning services and a team of Radiographers, this role provided me with invaluable experience. I have since completed courses in Radiographer led CT Colonography and CT Cardiac scanning. Since then, I’ve decided to try something new and Alliance Medical have fully supported me in becoming CT Clinical Lead.
James
Radiology Management System Specialist
I have had the chance to work for Alliance in their static and mobile units and gain experience. You form close bonds with your colleagues and real camaraderie is felt! The varied opportunities Alliance Medical has offered has allowed me to take a key role in RIS/PACS development and various projects. I am now a RIS specialist keeping our systems at the forefront of the Radiology market.
Alliance Medical expects hard work and high standards, but has always rewarded that with opportunities to further clinical expertise, work with great people, gain internationally recognised qualifications, pursue new career directions and progress into managerial roles.
Andrew
Senior Radiographer Mobiles
Since Joining AML 2 years ago I have progressed well with my career and developed great leadership skill and gained in confidence both professionally and personally. I have been provided with the training and education and support to back up my clinical ability and have found some rewarding challenges in transferring my existing skills to the mobile environment. I have been on courses like cardiac CT to further my knowledge and ability. I have also recently started cross training in MRI which is an exciting opportunity.
I am happy in my job and enjoy the variety of my work with a great team.
Claire
Clinical Resourcing Manager
I joined Alliance Medical 17 years ago as a Senior CT Radiographer. I immediately felt part of the team and the support and training was really reassuring and impressed me from the start.
Since Joining Alliance Medical I have been able to experience lots of things and business areas, I have been part of the training and education team, a Regional Senior responsible for a team of staff and sites, managed big contracts and set up new services. I have been able to balance learning Management skills alongside clinical scanning and been guided and supported along the way by a network of highly skill team members.
More recently I have changed career direction and have become the Clinical Resourcing Manager for Alliance Medical overseeing our Undergraduate and Graduate career pathways and training, University engagement and Clinical career progression. I love seeing other employees benefit and grow as I have from the opportunities presented by Alliance Medical. I have seen the company grow over the years and have felt part of every step of the way.
Heather
Graduate Radiographer Statics
I started work for Alliance Medical as an Administrator in 2015. Whilst studying as a Radiographer Alliance Medical offered to train me via the company as a Clinical Assistant and offered me flexibility with my shifts that could fit in around my degree course. Once I qualified I was offered a place on the Graduate Scheme to enable me to continue with a company I loved and start my career as a Radiographer. I have been supported every step of the way through my studies and now after graduation by my colleagues and management. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime.
Shonagh
Clinical Applications Lead
I first joined AML in 2008 as a Clinical Assistant and very quickly was given the opportunity to be supported through university in becoming one of the first X- Ray and MRI Assistant Practitioners in Alliance Medical. Working on the mobiles gave me time to continue these studies and progress to working in the Warwick Nuffield Alliance Medical MRI department in 2013 where I was able to learn more complex scanning and work closely with radiologists.
In 2015 I was successfully appointment my first management role and took responsibility a group of highly skilled Radiographers. Since 2016 I have been a part of the Technology team and progressed to become the Clinical Applications Lead, managing the RIS and PACS systems and teams. I love taking my knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the 11 years to units around the country and supporting them from a technical point of view but keeping clinical and patient care at the forefront.
I’m so grateful to Alliance Medical for seeing my potential and given me the support and encouragement to progress my career. Alliance Medical rewards staff that have the drive to succeed not just in the clinical work, but from other business areas too and I’m proof of that.
Alliance Medical has given me the opportunity to be the perfect role model for my son growing up. You can be a mum and still have a full time, successful career without having to compromise, and I’m thankful for all their support.
Sophie
Mobile Manager
I came to Alliance Medical from a management position in the Hospitality industry and I have been able to advance and develop my understanding of a new industry by starting in a role that provided business support to now being in a management position.
Alliance Medical has provided me with a supportive workplace whereby I have been able to transition from a completely different working industry into Health Care whilst also enjoying a work life balance.
Alliance Medical has a structure in place where your ideas can be heard, worked upon as a team and then become implemented. This also means the company can provide opportunities to further develop yourself in many different business areas. Alliance Medical has valued my experience from another industry which in turn has made me value them as a company as well as a great place to work.”
Paulette
Human Resources Business Partner
In December 2016 I joined Alliance Medical on a 12 month fixed term contract as a HR Business Partner, it was later extended for a further 5 months to allow me to continue to support the team and work on additional HR projects. I have always expressed an interest to learn more about the business from an operational perspective as I am very commercially focused contributing out of the HR arena. So when my contract was nearing an end an opportunity arose for a part time Unit Manager at one of our static sites, I applied for the role and was appointed. This happened at the right time as it allowed me to reduce my hours with flexibility for a short time to be in a position to balance my home life which, at the time needed some attention. Alliance Medical was very supportive during this period. I was able to gain great insight on what it was like to be in a role where I would normally support other colleagues with HR related issues and see the challenges they were facing. During my time as a Unit Manager the unit also went through a CQC inspection and it received a ‘GOOD’ outcome it was a scary but an exciting opportunity to lead on this. I am so grateful for this development opportunity and returning back to HR I have gained much more knowledge about the organisation to be in a position to add further value to supporting my colleagues across the business

I started my career with Alliance Medical on the mobile units as an MRI Radiographer, my time on the mobiles gave me the opportunity to travel and see the beautiful scenery within England and Wales, and meet lots of new people and learn lots of different scanning techniques.

I have been working within the South Mobiles team since January 2018. What I really enjoy about working in the mobile team is the variety of work that I do. I have been working in CT since 2009, but coming to Alliance has deepened my knowledge even further and feel it has made me a better Radiographer for it. I have recently started the role of south CT training lead, which has given me the opportunity to help pass on my knowledge and help with the training of new starters to the company.

PET-CT Clinical Lead Statics
I’ve been working with Alliance Medical for 4 years now. I started with the company shortly after I moved to the UK as a PET-CT technologist. Since then I’ve grown as a professional and took the position of PET-CT Clinical Lead. With Alliance there’s plenty of opportunities for development within your own role or in preparation for the next one. There are lots of things available to us such as training days, Apprenticeships and workshops that help you along the way on your path to learning and development. I consider Alliance a great company to work for, with an array of benefits.
Graham
MRI Graduate Radiographer
I realised early on in my radiography training MRI was the path I wanted to take. I set my sights on MRI, and Alliance Medical gave me that opportunity on the Graduate scheme. It has been a steep learning curve, but an enjoyable one. Working at a static site has provided a consistent and thorough learning environment. It has also meant I have experienced a wide range of examinations performed in a hospital setting, which has enabled me to vastly develop my skill set. The enthusiastic and caring staff I have worked with have been a life line and I could not have achieved what I have without them.
Haider
Senior Radiographer
I joined Alliance Medical in January 2018. Coming from Pakistan, I was very excited and a bit anxious, wondering if I had made the right choice and if I will be able to fit in with the team.
My first day at the West Middlesex Hospital was amazing. My manager, ever so very friendly and approachable, greeted me with a smile, showed me around and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible before I started working. I was very Happy.
Alliance Medical has a wonderful structure in place, which ensures that a safe working environment is provided, a culture of continuous professional and personal skills development is promoted and every staff member has a voice. I feel that I am more confident in my skills and my communication has improved since joining. The mandatory training has had a positive impact on my professional career. By working for Alliance Medical, I have learned quite a few new skills, met and worked with amazing people and formed everlasting bond.

I am not the same person I was, two years ago I am far better. Alliance Medical, has enabled me to widen my skillset by training me in PET-CT imaging, of which I will always be grateful.
